5 Signs Your Car Needs New Tyres

Blog

Tyres are one of the most important parts of a vehicle, as they are responsible for maintaining traction and a smooth ride. However, tyres don't last forever and need to be replaced from time to time. But how do you know when it's time to replace your tyres?

In this blog post, we'll cover the five signs that can indicate your car needs new tyres.

Worn Out Tyre Treads

Tyre treads on a tyre’s surface help with grip and stability on the road. Over time the tyre treads wear out, making it difficult for the tyre to grip the road surface. Check your tyres for worn-out treads, and if they appear to be smooth, it’s time for new tyres.

Bulges or Bubbles

If you notice bubbles or bulges on the tyre surface, it could indicate that the tyre has internal damage. This is a dangerous situation as the tyre could burst at any time, so don't hesitate to get the tyre changed quickly.

Excessive Vibration

If you feel excessive vibrations while driving, it could be an indication of worn-out tyres. Over time, tyres lose their tread and become less effective at absorbing shocks from the road. This can lead to a bumpy and uncomfortable ride, as well as potential damage to your vehicle's suspension system. If you experience excessive vibrations, have your tyres inspected and replaced if needed.

Cracks on Tyre Surface

Car tyres are designed to flex and absorb the impact of the road, however, over time, this can cause the tyre's surface to crack. Cracks on the sidewall are particularly hazardous, as they could imply that the tyre’s structural integrity has been compromised.

Vibration while Driving

If you feel a vibration or shaking while driving, especially at high speeds, it could indicate that your tyres are out of balance, have uneven wear, or are damaged. This could be due to a tyre puncture or the wheel misaligned, so it's essential to get your tyres checked out by a professional.

Excessive Noise

Tyres that are excessively noisy could signify that they are wearing unevenly, causing a reduced balance in the ride, or it could be due to tyre tread wearing unevenly. In worst-case scenarios, this could even be caused by internal tyre damage, which could be dangerous.

Your tyres are the only contact your car has with the roads. Therefore, it's vital to ensure that they are in good condition. If you suspect that your tyres are worn out or damaged, don't delay in getting them changed. Ignoring tyre problems can lead to potentially dangerous situations. So, look for any signs that your car needs new tyres and, when in doubt, seek professional assistance. Remember, safe driving always starts with good tyres.

Howdy! My name is Eric and I am here to give you some top tips which will help you to keep the tyres and wheels on your car in top condition. For a very long time, I didn't really give much thought to the tyres and wheels on my car. I suppose I just thought that they would look after themselves. However, I now realise that I need to take action to care for my tyres and wheels. I learnt this important lesson when one of my tyres failed while I was driving down the highway. It was a pretty scary experience but, thankfully, the guys and the tyre repair shop did a great job and gave me some great advice which got me back on the road.
