Car Tyre Tips to Maximise Their Life

Blog

All motorists will wear down car tyres simply by driving around. There is nothing you can do to avoid the normal wear and tear that tyres suffer from general motoring. That said, there are plenty of things you can do to ensure that your tyres do not wear down prematurely. If you want to maximise the length of time between fitting new ones and purchasing your next set, then follow these tips.

  • Opt for Premium Tyres

Although a typical tyre shop or have a wide range of different products, it is best to go for a premium brand if your budget allows for it. This is because premium tyres simply last longer than budget ones. Although a cheaper set of tyres will work perfectly well, the rubber compounds they are made from usually wear down more rapidly. Therefore, it is common to make a saving in the long run by going for a premium product instead. That said, you should always ask your local tyre shop for any promotions they have on premium brands. This is the best way of ensuring you are maximising the life of your new set of tyres whilst spending as little as possible. Good tyre shops often have these sorts of offers, especially when a particular product will be soon replaced by a new version.

  • Pump Your Tyres Up Frequently

It is very important to keep your tyres properly inflated when driving around. All too often, Australian motorists drive around on tyres which are flatter than they should be. Bear in mind that a visual inspection of your tyres is often not enough to ensure they are properly pumped up. Instead, you should take your car to your local filling station and use the air pressure nozzle to make sure your tyres have the correct level of inflation. If they don't, then the tread will inevitably wear down too quickly.

  • Change Your Driving Habits

By adjusting your driving style, you can make your tyres last longer. If you are in the habit of dropping the clutch when you pull away from a stationary position, for example, then you can easily get into a wheelspin. This will make your tread wear down much sooner than it should. Equally, if you drive close to the car in front and brake hard, then this place is your tyres under undue strain. Just drop back a little and use your brake less in order to maximise your tyres' lifespan. Slow down when you are on a rough surface or a track so that your tyres can cope better with those situations, too.

Keeping Your Tyres and Wheels in Top Condition

Howdy! My name is Eric and I am here to give you some top tips which will help you to keep the tyres and wheels on your car in top condition. For a very long time, I didn't really give much thought to the tyres and wheels on my car. I suppose I just thought that they would look after themselves. However, I now realise that I need to take action to care for my tyres and wheels. I learnt this important lesson when one of my tyres failed while I was driving down the highway. It was a pretty scary experience but, thankfully, the guys and the tyre repair shop did a great job and gave me some great advice which got me back on the road.
